Austria bike use surges
A new record in bike use has been set in the Austrian city of Vienna in July. City Bikes says 129.279 journeys have been made in the month, a 45 per cent increase from 2012.
The number of users in 2011 has also increased by 25 per cent in 2012. The Vienna City Bike system currently has 450,000 registered users who make 750,000 journeys every year.

In response to the growing numbers, Karl Javurek from the City Bike Operator Gewista plans to increase the number of bike stations from 111 to 120 by early 2014. Two hundred bikes are also slated to be added to the current total of 1,300 bikes on the stands.
