The Philippine Azkals’ match against Pakistan will push through tonight despite several Azkals members suffering from food poisoning.
“…several players might not take part in the match because of food poisoning during the weekend,” said the Philippine Azkals’ official website.
The game is set at seven p.m., 15 October at the Panaad Stadium in Bacolod.
Azkals’ striker Phil Younghusband is also unsure to join tonight’s match due to a calf injury. He also missed last Friday’s match against Chinese Taipei. The Philippines lost in a 2-1 score.
Tonight’s game is the final match of the 2013 Philippine Peace Cup and will create several scenarios depending on the result.
“A 1-0 win by the Azkals will give the title to Chinese Taipei based on the head-to-head record, while a win with at least a two goal lead will allow the Azkals to retain the Peace Cup. A draw or win for Pakistan will see the South Asians as the champions,” according to the Azkals’ website.
The Philippine Azkals are currently 141 in the FIFA rankings.
