BIR Collections for September 2013 surges to 21.1 percent

The collection of tax revenues for September 2013 has increased by 21.1 percent from last year’s, according to a government agency.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) under the Department of Finance announced that its collections in tax revenues last September amounted to P86.03 billion, P15 billion more than the collections for September 2012.
For the same month, BIR operations have collected P81.76 billion, P14.05 billion or 20.75 percent more than last year’s. While non-BIR operations totaled to P4.27 billion, P946 million more or a 28.43 percent increase.
The Regional Offices also collected a 29.28 percent increase or P7. 42 billion more; its total collection is P32. 84 billion.
The collections under the Large Taxpayers Service for last September was P48.93 billion, P6.64 billion or 20.75 percent more than last year’s.
According to the BIR, this is the second month in a row that its collection grew by more than 20 percent.
The BIR is in charge of assessing and collecting all national internal revenue taxes, fees, and charges. It is currently under the supervision of BIR Commissioner Kim Henares.
