Brits prepare as Halloween approaches

Got nowhere to go this Hallow’s Eve? Here are just some events you and your family can join to commemorate scare season:
Longleat Safari Park, Wiltshire
From October 19-November 4, visitors can enjoy torchlight tours, ghost train rides and pumpkin trails into the woods. Dracula is also stalking the park’s bat cave and main house. A fireworks display will light up the dark skies on October 25-26.
Lyme Park, Cheshire
Walk a spooky trail, carve jack-o’-lanterns or listen to spooky tales told from a medieval cage in this estate. The activities are from October 21-November 3.
Warwick Castle, Warwick
Friendly activities like family trails, witch school and paranormal investigation are available in the daytime. However, scarier activities are available as dusk falls, with a beheading mystery and the Trebuchet Fireball finale. The Hallowe’en activities last October 24-November 2.
St Albans Ghost Walks, Hertfordshire
Ghost tours, stories and a firework display will be the highlights of Halloween in St Albans. Join the Huntings Project or stay at the haunted White Hart Hotel from October 24-November 2.
Belton House, Lincolnshire
On October 26, enjoy supper, dancing, ghost stories and party games by booking at the Belton House. Participants can also join a pumpkin parade and fancy dress competition.
Bodiam Castle, East Sussex
Have you ever seen a medieval surgery? The Happening History will feature the horrible past of the Bodiam Castle. An interactive ghost hunt for the castle’s mysterious Red Lady will also be held to commemorate All Souls Day.
Hever Castle, Kent
Dress for Hallow’s Eve and listen to ghastly tales in Hever Castle from October 26-November 3. The best ghouls in costume will also be given a prize. Workshops in mask-making and cupcakes are available for hobbyists, while a Yew Maze will help keep active visitors busy.
Drusillas Park, East Sussex
Fans of Scooby Doo will get to see him sniff out ghouls in the park. The zoo will also have a Halloween Shriek Week featuring a walk through the three witches’ playground, the Haunted Heights. Activities last from October 26-November 3.
Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Museum and village Wiltshire
Concoct your own magic potions by mixing ingredients picked out from the trail starting October 26-November 3. Dress up as witches and wizards on October 29 and create crafts and have fun in medieval cloisters.
Coalport China Museum and Jackfield Tile Museum, Ironbridge, Shropshire
Explore the art of painting and clay modelling, Halloween style. Glazed-paint mug designing will start on October 28. Clay modelling a few creepy crawlies and ceramic tile slip-trail painting starts October 29-November 1.
