How are celebrities spending Philippine Independence Day?
12 June or Philippine Independence Day is a national holiday when schools, government buildings and offices are closed. However, unlike most Filipinos who get to take time-off from their daily responsibilities, celebrities often celebrate the occasion by the extremes: it’s either business as usual, or they go on a getaway trip abroad.
Ever wonder where and how your favourite stars are celebrating this holiday? FFE investigated and here’s what we found out:
All work, no play
Many stars like Zsa Zsa Padilla, Anne Curtis and Ryzza Mae are spending the day in the set of their respective shows, working hard or having fun with others who also have to go to work on the holiday:
Fans of Zsa Zsa sent their regards to their idol who plays Gerald Anderson’s mum in ‘Dyesebel.’
The dedicated Anne Curtis is on her 11th straight day of working as she heads to the set of her horror movie ‘The Gifted.’
Ryzza Mae had fun with grown up girls Liz Uy, Solenn Heussaff, Georgina Wilson and Isabelle Daza in ‘The Ryzza Mae Show.’ The young, energetic actress also celebrates her 9th birthday today!
Greetings from…
Unlike their working colleagues, these three showbiz couples are spending a love-filled Independence Day abroad with their significant others:
Angel Locsin and Luis Manzano are in Osaka, Japan right now spending festive days in Universal Studios and trying on traditional Japanese kimono.
The Alcasids are going to Los Angeles for Independence Day. But before sight-seeing, Ogie has invited Filipinos in the city to watch an Independence Day concert with other artists.
Angelica Panganiban and John Lloyd Cruz have already jumpstarted their Independence Day getaway in Phuket, Thailand days ahead of their counterparts in the Philippines. @iamangelicap: ‘tinutupad mo ang mga bagay na hindi ko man lang sinubukang pangarapin. I lablab you!!!’
Happy 12 June
For celebrities who are taking a day off but not going on a getaway, 12 June simply means a day to greet others on this momentous day in Philippine history:
Alice Dixson appreciates the beautiful 12 June sunrise with a greeting: ‘Good morning! Happy Philippine Independence Day.’
International News Anchor Rico Hizon greets his kababayans with a tinge of national pride.
Singer Christian Bautista goes golfing with his family in a joint Independence Day-advanced Father’s Day celebration.
Dingdong Dantes, commissioner-at-large for the National Youth Commission, spends the day by celebrating the ‘bayanihan’ spirit of Independence Day.
