COMEDY Queen Ai-Ai delas Alas confirmed Sunday that she’s separated from husband of one month, businessman Jed Salang.
In a taped interview with “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda, Ai-Ai said she left their conjugal home after she was physically assaulted on May 2, when they had a fight over where to celebrate their first month as a couple.
Jed wanted to celebrate in a hotel and casino but Ai-Ai refused because she will look bad in public eye if she is spotted in a gambling area. Ai-Ai offered to just stay home or spend the occasion in a different hotel.
The comedienne’s husband disapproved the idea and started physically hurting her.
Jed allegedly also made snide remarks about her Catholic faith. After the confrontation, she stayed in her daughter’s unoccupied bedroom.
Ai-Ai also confirmed that there is a third party in their marriage. She was not surprised with this, however, since a close friend of Jed warned earlier that the businessman will only use and later dump her for his ex-girlfriend.
“Sinabi na niya sa akin na papatulan lang ako ni Jed tapos later on, ayaw kong sabihin yung word, at pag nagawa na niya yun, iiwan na niya ako at may kakasamahin siyang iba,” the actress said.
Ai-Ai believed in this story because she felt it even before they decided to tie the knot in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 3. “Alam ko kasi from the very beginning ramdam ko naman yun. Natatakot ako kasi alam ko pag nalaman ko yung totoo, sobrang sakit,” she said.
The actress tried her best to live in a fairy tale by shrugging off bad moments in their relationship but said she can only bear so much.
Ai-Ai blames herself for wanting to have a husband she could grow old with. Tao lang ako na nagkakamali at hindi ko alam an magiging ganyan ang buhay ko,” she said, adding she was only able to know the real Jed after their wedding in the United States.
She said she doesn’t want to see Jed anytime soon as she leaves it up to her lawyers to facilitate the separation. Her top concern now is her family and three kids.
Ai-Ai apologized to her children as they are also affected by the controversy.
She also thanked the Lord because she was able to get out of the marriage early. Ai-Ai said the Lord never let her down. Ngayon, thank you kasi ngayon wala na. Hindi niya ako iniwan. Sobrang nagpapasalamat ako na maaga ako nakawala.”
The “Pilipinas Got Talent” judge said it was a wake-up call, a bitter one at that. “Yung buhay ko parang isang panaginip na masama, tapos nagising ako na totoong buhay pala yung nangyari sa akin,” she said.
Ai-Ai and Jed have a 20-year age gap. They were together for one year and three months.
