Don’t be fooled by these fake balikbayan box Forwarders
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) once again renewed warnings against using fake balikbayan box forwarders and their Philippine agents as a new wave of complaints reached their office.
DTI warned against freight forwarders that:
- are not delivering boxes to their rightful owners or consignees
- do not have proper documents of accreditation
- have received customer complaints.
Those who have been found to violate estafa or swindling laws will have their accreditations revoked, be given sanctions and will face criminal charges.
Here is the latest DTI-Philippine Shippers’ Bureau (PSB) watchlist on fake freight forwarders. Those living in Europe are especially warned against using the following shippers:
Britain: Philand Ynterlink Ltd and Philippine counterpart Joseph Glenn Galo
Germany: ADC Spedition Services
Ireland: Maharlika Enterprise Cargo Services and SCRL Cargo
Italy: Jet Express Cargo
Spain: EB Barbosa Enterprise and Philippine counterparts Barbosa Enterprise and Masterlink Cargo System (Macsi), Incorporated
Before sending a balikbayan box, DTI said senders must make sure they are only using DTI-accredited freight forwarders. The department also warned against shippers that charge lower rates for their services as these may not be able to pay for transportation costs fully.
