Model, fashion designer and Hollywood star Eva Mendes’ figure is the envy of women. But she admits there’s one person who doesn’t like her frame – her mother.
The 39-year-old actress has been sticking to healthy diet without red meat or chicken. But she confesses her weakness for the meringue cake from Porto’s, a Cuban bakery near her Los Angeles home.
The workout paid off though – Mendes graces Lucky Magazine’s October cover. Inside, she shows her curves by wearing a clingy black A-line number and low-heeled slip-on black shoes. In the interview, she reveals that she exercised for her role in crime drama film For the Place Beyond the Pines to give her character a “depleted look.”
Her relationship with co-star and current beau Ryan Gosling, 32, is off limits. She says “You can ask about my boyfriend. I just won’t answer.” The pair has been a hot item since falling in love in the movie set.
She says that her mom didn’t understand why she wanted to look that way. She adds “She’s constantly telling me I’m too skinny!” She also adds that her mom keeps track of her by going online. “I say, “Please, Mother, don’t Google me!’”
But her mom and the rest of the family are supportive of her venture to fashion design. “They were like, ‘Evie, you have to do this!’” she says. Her first two seasons with American clothing retailer New York & Company were inspired by them.
Style mavens have taken notice of Eva’s fashion taste. But she reveals her clothes do not always come with a high-priced label. “I love bargain” she confesses.
“’And there are days when I don’t feel great, but I put on my favorite dress and throw a scarf in my hair, and it makes all the difference. Hopefully my line can do that for women. Even if you’re not feeling your best, let’s admit it, the right outfit – it helps.”
Some of her quick tips are refreshing with a puff of baby powder and stashing a pair of socks for walking through airport security.
