Over 70 projections onto buildings and monuments around the city of Berlin are casting up a glow among Germans and visitors.
The 9th Berlin Lights Festival, the biggest lights fest in the world, is set to run until October 20. During the event, city landmarks like the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral, the television tower in Alexanderplatz and the Olympic Stadium will be taking on new skins as they are illuminated with light art.
On Saturday, the Festival of Lights will also showcase ‘OpenCity,’ an arts and culture event wherein cathedrals, museums and TV studios will open their doors to the public. ‘LightRun,’ ‘Jazz in the ministry gardens’ and Sunday sales are other events to mark.
The festival draws 1.5m guests each year and, so far, has Berlin accommodating 520,000 overnight bookings in the coming days.
