French cats to get VIP Treatment

Starting February, cat owners in Paris will be able to book a room for their feline friends in a hotel exclusively for cats.
Hotel ‘Aristide’, named after the manager’s cat, will be located at the city’s north-western 9th arrondissement and will feature games rooms and cozy bedrooms.
Manager Gauthier Berdeaux said the hotel’s 20 ‘bedrooms’ measuring 4 metres-squared will be ‘enriched with loft beds and platforms on which they can jump, climb, play and scratch and [they] can take long siestas on soft pillows.’
Cats can even select their treat from a special menu, and will have many hours of supervised playtime in small groups in a 20 metres-squared room. The manager promised that cats who book will also get ‘unlimited cuddles’ from hotel staff.
When asked why he decided to put up a cat hotel, Berdeaux said ‘Because I couldn’t find a solution for a perfect place to keep my cat — out of good friends, my parents, the local grandmother, a host family or animal home — I came up with the idea of opening a hotel for the domestic animals.’
Hotel Aristide has been financed through crowd-funding, and will be the second feline-focused establishment in Paris after a café opened in the Marais district.
