Getting flak online? Learn from the Belgians.

Global insurance company AXA has provided Belgians facing online flak a solution to their problems: get a policy.
For the past few months, a number of Belgians have taken out a special insurance, called ‘D@ylife E-protection,’ that will protect them against people ruining their reputations online. The special insurance has been designed to protect people who end up in scandalous websites like the Facebook page ‘Antwerp Whores’ which uses photos of ordinary women from the internet and tags them with insulting comments.
The special insurance is part of the company’s policies that offer protection against accidents. Aside from compensation, the company also vows to remove or bury all offensive information that it can be found in the internet.
AXA Belgium spokesman Korneel Warlop said ‘Removing such information entirely from the internet isn’t really possible, but we do work together with companies that ensure that such information automatically ends up at the bottom when searches are carried out. In that way nobody will read it.’
The insurance is intended for ordinary people who experience the negative side of the internet.
