Goma will be having a busy year Ahead
Richard Gomez rose to fame in the late 80s and early 90s, his most popular show being the decade-long TV sitcom ‘Palibhasa Lalake.’ But around 30 years after his first movie debut opposite Maricel Soriano in ‘Inday Bote,’ Goma is still looking forward to a busy showbiz career.
TV5 will revive the Goma-Sharon tandem with the series ‘My Pirated Family,’ which will be aired after ‘Confessions of a Torpe’ finishes with its season. Sharon said the series will have a different take on the former love team as it is about two orphans who are ‘best frenemies.’
Despite having a TV series underway, Goma is slated to work on two other movies which have yet to be scheduled for shooting. The first is ‘Ang Sugo: The Last Messenger,’ a biographical film about Iglesia ni Cristo where he will play INC founder and lead character Felix Manalo. Sugo vows to be a very ambitious film with a working budget of Php300m, making it one of the most expensive Philippine film production to date.
Goma is also scheduled to work with Gretchen Barretto and John Lloyd Cruz in the forthcoming legal drama ‘The Trial.’ His role in this movie will be challenging as he plays a lawyer involved in a love triangle with Gretchen’s doctor character and John Lloyd’s mentally-challenged character.
These shows aren’t the only things that will be keeping Goma busy this year. His daughter Juliana by Leyte Representative and actress Lucy Torres-Gomez is turning 14 this year, and already dad Goma is sensing the changes in his teen unica hija.
‘Ninenerbiyos na nga ako nang konti!’ quipped Goma now that his daughter is nagdadalaga. He admitted that he sees Juliana slowly having interest in boys, which makes him more nervous: ‘Siyempre, ayaw natin na ang anak natin e mabola ng ibang lalaki, ‘di ba?’
As a former self-proclaimed pabling (playboy), he also casually warned Juliana’s future suitors by saying ‘Nararamdaman [ko] yung mga nambobola. Yung style nila, alam ko.
‘Lagi ko namang nililinis ang shotgun ko, e!’ he added.
His hands full with upcoming projects and with guarding his only daughter, Goma will surely be busy and very visible in the coming months.
