Have you heard of Microsoft’s new programme to protect your Kids?
Tech provider Microsoft has just made the Internet a more child-friendly space at a time when online bullying and abuse is affecting more children.
The company has launched its child-friendly programme called Safer Families that allows parents to block unsuitable content and prevent strangers from talking to their kids. Safer Families is a safety programme setting that can be applied to XBox One, XBox 360, Windows Phone and Windows 7 and 8 operating systems.
Here’s a guide on how you can apply Safer Families settings on Microsoft products at home.
Aside from the changes in Microsoft’s Windows and Xbox products, the company will also hold free workshops across the UK to guide parents on how to keep their child safe on the Internet. Microsoft also listed four tips to protect your children whenever they go online.
According to a Microsoft survey, parents are most concerned about sexual content and online bullying when it comes to their child’s online safety. But despite their fears, four million parents in the UK admitted that they have not set up safety settings in their tech products at home, leaving their kids vulnerable to unwanted content, which affects 1 in 8 children.
