Henares counterpunches Cayetano over Pacquiao Bashing
After Senator Alan Peter Cayetano publicly declared that Tax chief Kim Henares should be scolded for heckling Manny Pacquiao on his tax obligations, Henares delivered a counterpunch statement on her defence.
In a text message to broadsheet Inquirer, Bureau of Internal Revenue Commissioner Henares reacted to a statement by Cayetano the other day calling her ‘overacting’ and ‘kulang sa pansin.’ She countered the senator’s words and said that Cayetano and her critics should know the facts first before saying anything.
‘Before anyone makes any conclusion or judgement or tries to generate publicity out of this, they should determine the facts first.
‘I did not initiate the discussion’ said the chief. ‘I am merely replying to questions from the media.’
Malacañang had earlier defended their appointed Tax chief by saying she was merely answering media questions. However, her consistent appearance on TV reminding Pacquiao to pay his dues got the senator and many of the boxer’s fans shaking their heads.
The Inquirer reported that Henares went even to the point of reminding fight bettors to pay their dues should they win.
