@HiddenCash: find envelopes of cash near You
There’s a global trend garnering many followers over at Twitter right now. All it asks of you is to look for envelopes stuffed with cash all over the city and tweet a photo of your blessings.
@HiddenCash has gone viral since starting in San Francisco, USA and has spawned versions in many American states, Canada, UK and Groningen in the Netherlands. The original @HiddenCash account now has over 300,000 followers ready to pick up the trail of photo clues left by the anonymous donor.
The prize for finding the hidden cash can go up to thousands of dollars.
The British version, @HiddenCash_UK, started on 28 May and has already made drops in Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield. The owner of the account said ‘I saw it going viral on the internet, and I thought “This is a really cool idea.”’ Like the owner of @HiddenCash, the man behind @HiddenCash_UK wants to remain anonymous and said he is using a network of friends to hide the cash envelopes all over Britain.
‘It’s fun for me, and it helps people out — so it’s a win-win,’ he said. The envelopes have been hidden everywhere, from parks to sidewalks and beaches.

The trend also seems to be helping more than was originally intended. Those who found the envelope in Sheffield decided to donate the money they found to SRASAC, a free counselling service for sexually abused women, and The Donkey Sanctuary.
