How to hide stress and look amazing under Pressure
Is rolling with the punches taking its toll? Don’t let your colleagues know that your work is getting under your nerves. Not only does looking fresh keep you desirable. It also makes you feel good outside and in.
Signs of stress
Here are some beauty tips that will keep you looking your best even when under stress:
Acne. Breakouts are common when under stress. Using concealers and loose powder is a great way to these nasty pimples.
Steps:First is to get a thick formula concealer and a concealer brush. Dab (not swipe) the concealer over the acne, covering all angles of the zit. Don’t conceal the surrounding areas of the zit, and never use a concealer that is lighter than your skin or else it will draw attention to the acne.
After the concealer has settled, the next step is to cover with loose powder. Do not swipe the powder puff and dab over the problem areas instead.
Dark circles. Poor health because of lack of sleep or skipping meals can cause the skin under the eyes to darken. Make-up can hide these dark circles.
Correctors are more effective than concealers because the latter tends to blend in with the dark tint under the eyes, not conceal it fully. Correctors come in pigments, adding colour under the eye and hiding the problem area more effectively.
Steps: Take an orange or yellow corrector and lightly dab the product. Begin from the skin closer to the eye and pat in an outward direction. Next, apply a foundation that matches the colour of your skin.
Under-eye bags. Some eye bag formation may be caused by genetics. But when you normally do not have eye bags, then stress might be causing puffiness under the eyes. Hiding eye bags can take more time, but they can be covered up in two ways:
Steps with make-up: Start with eye cream (choose caffeinated brands for their active ingredient) and apply generously on the problem area. After the cream is absorbed, apply light concealer or light skin care-concealer hybrids to soothe the under-eye area.
To remove puffiness, apply bronzer (without shimmer) on your cheeks and blend upward. This will make the puffy areas seem to recede.
Steps without make-up: Ice or cold compresses can constrict the veins beneath the skin, making puffiness vanish. You can do an ice water wash or use chilled cucumber slices or spoons and even moisten two tea bags in ice water for this remedy. Pat the chilled items under the eye until the eye bags recede.
Another tip is to use egg white mask will help tighten the skin around the eyes, reducing puffiness. Simply pat the raw egg white on the problem areas and let the skin absorb the liquid. After around 15 minutes, rinse off. Do this daily to allow the skin to tighten better.
Wrinkles. Stress can lead to premature aging and wrinkles. Like puffy eyes, it takes care and a bit of make-up to remedy this problem.
Steps: Begin by applying moisturiser and silicone primer to soften the wrinkles and to fill in fine lines. After the product is absorbed, use a hydrating foundation to conceal the lines. Try not to over-cover or else it will draw attention.
One way to trick people into seeing less of your wrinkles is to play up on the eyes. Neutral colours and matte shadows will make the eyes more prominent, directing attention away from the problem areas.
Shabby hair. Stress can take your attention away from your hair, and this may mean having a coif that’s all over the place. Fortunately, hairspray can put every stray strand back in order.
Steps: Keep the nozzle 12 inches or more away from the hair. Press and hold while applying the product at all angles, taking care not to overspray to prevent the unnatural-looking ‘helmet hair.’
If one too many strands are out of place, spray the product on your palms and smooth your hair down with your hands. Another tip to prevent helmet hair is to use spray starch.
