10 July was the first death anniversary of Rodolfo Vera Quizon— more popularly known as Dolphy. The family celebrated it with a simple mass at the Heritage Memorial Park with some very close family and friends.
Despite declarations that she has moved on already ZsaZsa Padilla, longtime live in partner of the comedy king still constantly feels the pangs of loneliness everytime she remember Dolphy.
According to Zsa Zsa, “I’m trying to be okay, pero siyempre sa mga okasyong ganito, di mo ma-avoid.
“Di ako makatulog, siyempre iyakan na naman, lahat, maga ang mata.
“Pero ang bilis ng panahon, yun ang naisip ko this morning.
“Di mo iisipin na one year na pala ang nakalipas, kasi we do the same things pa rin, e, since he left us.
“Every morning I still have coffee with him, I talk to him, I say, ‘Good morning.’ I say, ‘Goodnight.’
“Kanina bago ako umalis, ‘Lika na, lovey, tara na.’
“There are times that are easy, there are times that are hard.”
Memories of Dolphy are still very fresh and vivid she says. “Siyempre, pag ganito na maaalala mo uli, masakit talaga, kasi parang iniisip mo kahapon lang nangyari, naaalala mo.
“Parang nagiging fresh sa memory mo ‘yan.”
She also related that they (Dolphy’s family) repeatedly feels his presence. They feel that he sometimes appear even in photos they take after he has already passed away.
Zsa Zsa also intimated that they need to move out of their house. They all feel it’s too big for them and its sheer size makes them incur unnecessary expenses. They would like to hold on to it as long as they could but of course they are also realistic about their situation. She said that for their daughters Nicole at Zia, sometimes it’s not really easy for them especially with our home, which we love so much.
“Kasi, pag dumarating yung usapan namin na realistically we have to move out din one of these years.
“Pag iniisip namin, ‘Paano natin iiwan yung bahay?’ E, buong buhay talaga ng mga bata, doon sila nakatira?
“Sana ma-bless tayo we can keep it even if we continue to move in our new condo or whatever.
“However, it will be in the future—yun ang prayer namin.
“Siyempre ang feeling mo, lahat na lang ba mawawala sa iyo?
“In every corner of that house, we see him, it comforts us.”
Zsazsa has also admitted in the past that she had difficulty moving the personal stuff of Dolphy, but now little by little she's been able to put some of them in boxes, since she also wants to move on,
“Oo, pina-box ko na, kasi tuwing pupunta ako sa attic, kasi nandoon yung mga damit namin, ang hirap-hirap, parang di ako maka-move forward.
Pero siyempre, lahat ng mga sapatos niya nandoon pa, yung mga suits niya, di naman puwede ikahon yun, nandoon pa talaga.
“Isa yun sa prinoproblema ko na hanggang di nagagawa yung museum, nasa akin lahat ng mga gamit niya, saan ko ilalagay, di ba?”
Zsa zsa also concurred the pronouncements of Eric at Epi Quizon (Dolphy’s sons from other partners), that the passing away of the comedy king has brought the family closer.
“Siyempre, minsan pag may mga trahedya na nangyayari sa pamilya, it only brings you closer and even to other people, ganoon talaga.”
