Janno Gibb’s confidence strengthens with Age

Singer-actor Janno Gibb’s lustre won’t be fading anytime soon as he says he is feeling more relaxed with age.
The 44-year-old comedian, known by the industry for being consistently late, revealed he had been struggling with ‘writer’s block’ for two years — a streak he had finally broken with recent songs ‘Bangon, Kaibigan’ for Yolanda survivors and ‘Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw,’ the theme song for the TV drama of the same name which he stars.
He revealed that the two songs were purely written voluntarily. He said ‘Ganoon pala… noong maumpisahan ko, nagkaroon ulit ako ng confidence. Kasi, nawawalan ka ng bilib sa sarili mo. Ngayon, medyo nabi-build ulit ang confidence ko. Nai-inspire ulit.’
Janno said fellow songwriter Ogie Alcasid’s move from the Kapuso Network to TV5 was a factor in his renewed songwriting prowess. He added ‘Ang iniisip ko, dapat meron pa rin na gumagawa ng magagandang kanta for [GMA7]. Happy ako that I’m inspired again to write.’
Is it possible that wife and fellow actress Bing Loyzaga has been inspiring him too? Janno revealed that, despite the couple’s unique living conditions, they are ‘solid na solid. It was in 2011 when rumours sparked that the couple were living separately in nearly adjacent houses.
The unusual set-up has got people wondering if the couple are separate or together. But Janno was adamant when he said he and Bing are for life: ‘Kahit na may mga kalokohan ako noon—sabihin na nating kalokohan—pero never sumagi sa isip ko na, “Ay, ano kaya kung humiwalay na ako?” Never sumagi sa isip ko yun.’
Meanwhile, Bing said this set-up has helped the family be more harmonious: ‘Maybe that’s we really need—a little space… Kesa nagbabangayan kami.’
‘He’s still my husband at the end of the day. Wala naman siyang choice, e.’
Janno said marriage was a lot like maintaining a career. It’s not all about feelings and said it was ‘tiyaga rin.’ And ‘tiyaga’ or perseverance is what he has been giving for his current project in ‘Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw’ as he broke his tardiness streak to be at the show’s press conference.
‘Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw’ debuts on 27 January locally and on 28 January globally through GMA Pinoy TV.
