Kim Chiu defends Xiam Lim against Bashers
It has been over a week since the incident of Xian Lim’s live performance in Binondo for ABS CBN’s gag show Banana Nite’s Chinese New Year Countdown but the online flak against the 24-year-old actor has not yet died down.
Lim has been severely criticized because of his behaviour on stage wherein he repeatedly ignored the surprise presence of the Kim Chu look a like winner Charmae Viking on stage. The obviously surprised Lim acknowledged her presence but didn’t attempt to talk to her at all. As she tried to join the conversation, Lim asked what was Bea Binene ( an actress and talent of competing channel, GMA7) doing there.
Viking was noticeably taken aback by Lim’s behavior and remained silent until Jason Gainza, one of Banana Nite’s host, joined them onstage where Lim continued to refer to Viking as Bea.
His reaction to the situation has earned him the endless ire of netizens. Some of the viewers reacted negatively on his behavior and said they felt bad for Viking.
Just hours after the incident though, Lim took it to twitter to apologize for his behavior.
“I deeply apologize if I caused negative feelings while singing onstage during the Chinese New Years Eve countdown…It was not my intention, and I take full responsibility for my actions,” tweeted Lim.
Lim’s Bride For Rent leading lady Kim Chiu shared how much the 24-year-old actor has been down ever since the incident.
“Sobra siyang malungkot, hindi mo siya makausap, as in hindi siya kumakain. Hindi siya nagpagupit ng hair,” said Kim in an interview.
The 23-year-old actress added that she has been advising Lim to toughen up as people will eventually move on from the incident.
Kim defended Lim and said there was nothing offensive with Lim referring to Viking as Bea, saying that the three of them do look alike.
“Parang hindi naman yata bastos, e. Kasi kamukha din naman… actually magkakamukha kaming tatlo. Hindi naman masama yun, ‘di ba?” Kim said.
Banana Nite’s director Bobot Mortiz also defended Lim on the incident, saying that Viking’s appearance was a surprise to the actor. Mortiz added that he failed to instruct Viking on what to do during the show.
“Kung naturuan namin ‘yung lookalike na kunwari biniro niya si Lim, siguro kung ginanon niya nilapitan niya si Xian, lalaruin na siya ni Xian, hindi eh. Nakatayo lang siya don so kung ako man ‘yun di ba kung ganon, ‘Anong ginagawa nito? Anong gagawin ko?” he said. “Nag apologize na rin siya, kaya ok na ang lahat. We apologized to Charmaine after the segment. She told our staff it was ok and understood the fact na hindi lang nasakyan yung gag kaya sana, huwag na palakihin ang issue.”
Meanwhile Bea said that she was not offended by the incident and even thanked Xian for mentioning her name.
“I guess its time for me to speak up regarding the issue about Xian Lim and Kim Chiu kalokalike. My name has just been dragged… And I don’t take that personally. I have nothing against the both of them. I even wanna thank Xian for mentioning my name…To the Kalokalike, you are pretty too and I’m happy na kahawig daw kita. Thankyou. #peace #nosarcasm #nohate,” tweeted the 16-year-old Kapuso actress.
