Tourism department launches #PHThankYou to thank international community for aid in disaster relief and rehabilitation.
The Department of Tourism (DOT) has just kicked off their online gratitude campaign #PHThankYou with advertisements flashed in different cities across the world.
#PHThankYou was launched on 8 February, three months after typhoon Yolanda made landfall in Guiuan, Samar. The campaign was made as a way to thank the international community for their ongoing help in delivering relief and rehabilitation to the survivors of typhoon Yolanda and of other disasters in 2013. As the online social media capital of the world, DOT aptly used Twitter as the medium for this campaign.
DOT had flashed ads around the world with the words: ‘The Philippines says thank you.’ The department said in a statement ‘We are Filipinos. We are resilient, grateful, and fun-loving people. And that’s why even as we are still recovering, we already want to show our thanks.’
#PHThankYou is being promoted in the following cities:
The department also released this video showing exceptional scenes from the Philippines and Filipinos expressing their heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in helping the country get back on its feet:
Malacañang and DOT are also inviting every Filipino to say thank you through #PHThankYou as a way of getting back to the international community and to everyone who participated in the relief efforts in the Visayas.
