A look at Manny: The Movie
Manny Pacquiao’s epic journey from being a 16-year-old skinny boxer fighting to earn money to feed his family to becoming one of the most accomplished boxers in history will soon be showcased in a new film.
‘When I was a boy, I had to fight to feed my family. My entire life I fought to survive. Boxing was my only hope,’ Manny said in the film’s trailer.
Simply and aptly titled ‘Manny,’ the film explores the Pambansang Kamao’s rags to riches story and how he handles his life not only as boxer but also as an international icon, a politician and a family man.
The film also touches on how Manny is able to unite his countrymen every time he sets out to fight in the ring.
The documentary is narrated by Academy Award Nominee Liam Neeson and directed by Academy Award Winner Leon Gast and Filipino-American Ryan Moore.

Other celebrities featured in the film are Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg, a self-confessed fan of Manny, and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
The film will have its world premiere at SXSW Film Festival that will be held from 7-15 March in Austin, Texas as ‘Texas holds special significance to Manny Pacquiao as this is where he accomplished his 8th world title in 8th weight division, a feat unmatched by any boxer in history,’ according to the film’s official website.
‘Manny’ will be in Philippine cinemas starting 12 March. One month after the film’s release in the country, Manny will have a chance for redemption in a rematch against Timothy Bradley.
Having lost to the American boxer in a controversial fight last June 2012, the People’s Champ vowed that he will be the aggressor when they face on 12 April at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
