The National Parks Development Committee (NPDC) has noted that the protest march held in Luneta Park was “clean.”
NPDC Director Juliet Villegas said that the protesters themselves kept the area clean and litter-free. “I’m so pleased to say that everyone was so co-operative. They brought their own litter bags and dustbins,” she added.
Environment groups like the Ecowaste Coalition also helped clean up. Ecowaste national coordinator Aileen Lucero remarked that volunteers have started cleaning even before the gathering ended. She added that the group was sending a call for a cleaner government free of corruption.
Lucero also said that “we cannot allow the pork barrel scam to be swept under the rug.” Like other Filipinos, the group also shared a desire for a transparent investigation and prosecution of those involved in the scam.
