Manila’s upcoming ‘Dreamplay’ to compete with Disneyland
A major American animation firm is joining the City of Dreams Manila group, adding a family dimension into the future entertainment hub of Metro Manila.
DreamWorks Animation, co-founded by director Steven Spielberg and which made the films ‘Shrek,’ ‘Kung Fu Panda’ and ‘How to Train Your Dragon,’ will be building a 2,000 to 3,000 square metre theme park inside the casino complex. Once built, the theme park in Manila will be DreamWorks’ first foray into amusement parks, rivaling the likes of Disneyland.
Belle Corporation Vice Chairman Willy Ocier announced that the theme park will be called ‘Dreamplay’ and will be operated by their partner Melco Crown (Philippines) Resort Corporation.
The theme park is the last to join the City of Dreams Manila group. Some of those that have already signed in are Nobu Hotel, Hyatt Hotel and Crown Towers Manila.
City of Dreams Manila is a resort and casino complex inside PagcorEntertainmentCity in PasayCity. By the time it opens this October, it will have 981 hotel rooms, 365 gaming tables, 1,680 slot machines and 1,680 electronic games.
