Manny Pacquiao: Triumph is the ‘symbol of the comeback’ of the victims of Yolanda
by FFE Sports News staff
Manny Pacquiao has proven that he is still the pound-for-pound king after scoring victory against Brandon “Bam Bam” Rios yesterday at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China.
The Pambansang Kamao won via unanimous decision, bringing home the WBO International Welterweight belt and breaking his losing streak.
“Yesterday’s victory wasn’t about my comeback but a symbol of my people’s comeback from a natural disaster and human tragedy,” Pacquiao said in a tweet.
The 34-year-old boxer has dedicated his fight against the American boxer to his countrymen that suffered the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda earlier this month.
Despite the major blackout in Tacloban, residents were able to witness Manny’s comeback by watching the fight live through big screens set up by the city government at a plaza, the city hall and city astrodome.
