By FFE PH News staff
MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino mentioned last Wednesday that he acknowledged the importance of coming up with a new scheme to resolve the traffic problems in Metro Manila, specifically at the Epifanio de los Santos (Edsa).
He further said “When we came here [as MMDA chairman], there are 1.9 million registered vehicles in Metro Manila but as of now it reached 2.3 million so we might duplicate the four digit number coding in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
Under this proposed coding scheme, vehicles are banned from EDSA with licence plates ending in 1,2,3 and 4 and not be allowed from plying roadways during Mondays;5,6,7 and 8 and on Tuesdays;9,0,1 and 2 and on Wednesdays,3,4,5 and 6 on Thurdays, and 7,8,9 and 0 Fridays.
Nevertheless,Tolentino said that there will be consultations with all the stakeholder and the 14- member of Metro Manila Council and the policy may only be implemented in Metro Manila and Edsa only.
