New Skyway soon to link SLEX and NLEX

In a bid to decongest traffic in Metro Manila’s major roads like EDSA, president Aquino launched the Php26.7b Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 project yesterday that will connect the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX).
Those in charge of the project are Citra Lamtoro Gung Persada, an Indonesian firm, and Philippine National Construction Corporation (PNCC) in partnership with San Miguel Corporation (SMC).
The 36-month project will include the construction of a 14.8km, 6-lane expressway that will start at the Skyway in Buendia, Makati and end in Balintawak, Quezon City. The linking of the two major traffic points is seen to ease the number of cars passing through EDSA and C-5. This will also shorten travel time from Buendia to Balintawak from 2 hours to 20 minutes.
The companies will start full-scale construction within the first quarter of 2014. They plan to finish by 2016.
