Pacquiao rushes to reclaim crown

Manny Pacquiao’s training for his bout against American lightweight champ Brandon Rios is officially underway and, according to his trainers, his pace is much faster than planned.
Assistant trainer Nonoy Neri remarked that the boxing icon will be in condition “in no time” given his pace. “The excess weight is quickly gone.”
Pacman started preparing for his November bout on Monday at the Pacman Wild Card Gym in General Santos City with Buboy Fernandez and Neri supervising. Chief trainer Freddie Roach is slated to join Pacquiao on October 7.
“You know Manny, once he gets the hang of it (training), he doesn’t want to stop,” remarked Neri. Pacquiao is bent on regaining his lustre after he suffered a sixth-round knockout against Juan Manuel Marquez last year.
The boxing champ is still considering hiring a replacement for conditioning expert Alex Ariza after the latter was fired and transferred to Rios’ camp. Neri, who is also in charge of Pacquiao’s diet, said that the boxer will do some sprinting after taking a break on Wednesday.
The Pacquiao-Rios fight is set on November 24 in Macau.
