MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino
Chair of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Francis Tolentino said on Thursday that he supports Quezon City’s plans to designate more biking lanes. In fact, he added that he hopes other major cities in Metro Manila will follow QC’s example.

Tolentino said that biking will promote good health, reduce air pollution and decongest the streets of Metro Manila.
The chair mentioned that his agency will help QC’s plans in any way they can. Recently, QC councillor Allan Benedict Reyes has filed a resolution that designates MMDA and the city government’s Department of Public Order and Safety to clearly demarcate bike lanes around the city.
The agency is also willing to give technical advice to identify secondary roads that are suitable for bike lanes.

Bike lanes have already been installed in areas around Metro Manila, including parts of EDSA, Magallanes to Ayala Avenue in Makati, University Avenue to Tandang Sora in Commonwealth Avenue, Remedios Circle up to Paraiso ng Batang Maynila on M. Adriatico Street in Manila and from Santolan LRT-2 station to Imelda Avenue along Marcos Highway in Marikina City.
