Continuous rains brought by Maring caused flooding in parts of Luzon
Department of Interior and Local Government secretary Mar Roxas II has directed the Philippine National Police to help residents who are affected by typhoon Maring. The police has also been instructed to declare full disaster response status in areas that are seriously affected by the storm. The police will be coordinating with the National Risk Reduction Management Council.
The secretary placed his confidence on the police, noting that they have prepared a checklist for response operations during typhoons, flooding and tsunami incidents. He adds “I’m hoping the national police are ready to aid victims.”
Tropical storm Maring (international name Trami) entered Philippine waters August 17 and is expected to exit by morning of August 21.
