Phl Embassy in Oslo, DOT London Promote Philippines at Denmark’s Tourism Fair
29 January 2014 – For the second year in a row, the Philippines, through the joint effort of the Philippine Embassy in Oslo, the Philippine Department of Tourism Office in London and the Philippine Consulate General in Copenhagen, participated in the Ferie & Fritid i Bella Tourism Fair in Denmark from January 17 to 19, bringing the ”It’s More Fun in the Philippines” tourism campaign to thousands of prospective Danish travelers looking for exciting travel destinations to go to for their next annual vacation.
This year’s edition of the fair, held annually for three days at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, drew more than 42,000 visitors.
The Philippine tourism booth featured information and video presentations on key travel destinations including Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Banaue and Palawan, with visitors discovering the myriad reasons why it is still more fun to visit the Philippines.
The Philippines, which continues to receive prime reviews from prestigious tourism and other media outlets including Rough Guides, Lonely Planet, the UK Telegraph and the Huffington Post, is fast becoming the next travel destination of choice in Southeast Asia for Danes and other Nordic nationals.
Tourism figures show a steady double-digit percentage increase in the number of Nordic tourists visiting the Philippines over the past four years. According to the latest statistics from the Philippine Department of Tourism, a total of 10,011 Danish tourists visited the Philippines in the first three quarters of 2013, comprising 24% of the 41,519 total number of Nordic tourists who visited the country in the said period.
