Pope comes back to life in a Musical
by FFE EU News staff
The most travelled pope travels back in time in a musical about his life.
“Karol Wojtyla: The True Story” recounts the life of John Paul II before he became the head of the powerful Catholic Church. The musical begins with the near-fatal shooting of the pope in St. Peter’s Square on May 13, 1981. As the pope struggles for his life, he recounts memories from the past: his affections, his mother, father and brother and the war.
Director Duccio Farzano said “We will tell the story of young Karol… all of the elements that have formed the pope.”
John Paul will be played by different actors: Alessandro Bendinelli will play the 9-year-old Karol, Mikee Introna at 20 and Massimiliano Colonna will play the 50-year-old Karol. Israeli singer Noa and choreographer Marco Sellati will also join the crew.
“Karol Wojtyla” is set to debut in Rome in mid-January and is slated to tour 15 cities around the world.
