After getting beaten up for allegedly attempting to rape a 22-year-old last Wednesday, 22 January, Vhong Navarro’s fans and friends in showbiz remain supportive of the actor as he recovers from the injuries he sustained.
The hashtag #PrayForVhongNavarro, which was started by Vice Ganda, Vhong’s friend and co-host in It’s Showtime, has been trending in the social networking site twitter since 24 January.
“Nakakaiyak. Nakakapanginig. Nakakapanghina,” Vice also tweeted.
“#PrayForVhongNavarro for his speedy recovery and safety,” Anne Curtis said.
“Napakabuting tao ni vhong… Alam namin yang mga malapit sa kanya…” said Angelica Panganiban.
Vhong is currently recovering in an undisclosed hospital and might need operation for the injuries he sustained.
Meanwhile Vhong’s ex-wife actress Bianca Lapus said that she is still in shock and cannot help but cry and be worried when she remembers what happened to Vhong.
“Di ko matanggap ang nangyari sa kanya, e mabuting tao ‘yun at walang kaaway,” Bianca said. “I told Vhong, his family, the kids and his girlfriend, sa pagsubok na ‘to, we are one family. We will draw strength from each other through prayers. Malalagpasan din natin ito.”
Bianca and Vhong’s marriage was annulled in 2008. They have one son Isaiah.
Yesterday, the 37-year-old father of two finally broke his silence in the ABS CBN show “Buzz ng Bayan” where denied the allegations that he raped anyone.
Vhong said he was blackmailed by businessman Cedric Lee, who he identified as the leader of the group of seven men that tied his hands and feet, blindfolded, attacked him; and him to give them money in a condominium in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
He added that he only signed the police blotter entry of attempted rape of a Deniece Millet Cornejo last 22 January because they threatened to leak the video of him getting beaten up and made to say “Ako si Vhong Navarro, ni rape ko ang kaibigan ko” to the media. Vhong said they only let him go because he was supposed to deposit P1 million the next day.
After the interview was aired, the hashtag #JusticeForVhongNavarro has been trending on twitter.
Vhong is an ABS CBN talent for 15 years. He started as a member of the all-male dance group Streetboys and rose to fame after starring in the movie “Mr. Suave” in 2003.
