Showbiz friends help Vhong get back on his Feet
For Vhong Navarro, giving joy to others is what’s important. But he admitted that he has been having difficulties doing this after the mauling incident involving Deniece Cornejo and Cedric Lee in January.
The trauma he has been bearing following the accident poses a huge problem for Vhong who, as an entertainer, is always expected to give his best in all performances. In an interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Vhong said ‘Hindi ko po alam kung ano yung nawala sa akin — feeling ko po nawala ang kumpiyansa.’
This loss of confidence could easily influence Vhong’s career as actor and host. What’s more troubling is that future projects may also be indirectly affected by the incident, leading to loss in a production’s time, money and efforts.
‘Da Possessed’ faced such a strain since the movie started shooting last December 2013, a month before the mauling incident. Production had been interrupted unwillingly for a full month before Vhong’s health returned. Director Joyce Bernal had even asked Vhong if he wanted to be replaced.
Unlike physical injuries, emotional trauma is not so easy to overcome. Thankfully, the cast and crew of Da Possessed, as well as Vhong’s friends in the entertainment industry, are willing to give the host-actor the support he needs to move on.

On resuming the filming of Da Possessed, Vhong confessed that direk Joyce and co-star Solenn Heussaff’s guidance has helped him to focus on bringing life to his character: ‘kinakausap ako ni Direk Joyce Bernal. Tinapat niya ako na kailangan na may gawin kami para mabalik yung character ko sa pelikula.
‘Kinausap niya si Solenn Heussaff na tulungan ako na maibalik ‘yon. Kaya nagpapasalamat ako kay Solenn at saka kay Direk Joyce.’
Vhong’s colleagues in hit noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’ also never cease to show their support for their friend:
‘My second family…Thank you!’
While the court battles rage on and despite suffering from trauma, Vhong has still a lot of things to be thankful for: a foothold in his career as an entertainer and friends who will not give up on him.
