Spring 2014 home design Trends

Spring may still be a long way off as we embark on the heart of winter in Europe. But it’s never too early to start prepping for a new look for the home.

Start your 2014 with the latest in home decoration. Here are the trending designs and styles you can adapt for next years’ freshest season:

Colour equilibrium

Colour-matching company Pantone has revealed that spring 2014 won’t be dominated by just a single colour. Instead, colour equilibrium is in. Mix and match pastel colours from the cool spectrum like placid blue, violet tulip and hemlock; neutral spectrum like sand and paloma; and hot spectrum like cayenne, freesia and celosia orange. Bold counterparts like radiant orchid and dazzling blue will give a great accent to the softer shades.

Furniture company Pacific Lifestyle emphasises the dreamy world of fairies and fantasy for spring next year. Wonderland uses ethereal shades like white, pastel pinks and blues and ‘gilver’ (gold and silver combined) and gives focus on glass and ceramics.

Butterfly and angel wings are soft images but they add life and movement to rooms.

Paper lanterns have unique shapes and soften hard lights. Here are other mood lighting tricks you can try.

An alternative to paper lanterns are crystal or glass chandeliers.

Use glass and ceramic vases to store fresh flowers that will grow in abundance next season.
