Leonora ‘Lei’ Jimenez finally stepped into the spotlight with a new advocacy against what she believed were the real perpetrators of her husband Arvin ‘Tado’ Jimenez’s death.
Lei said the tragic bus accident in Botoc, Mountain Province was the fault of Florida Transport Incorporated and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB). She said both had been negligent and should suffer under the law: ‘They should be made accountable and justice should be served to the victims and their families.’
Photojournalist and activist Tado Jimenez died along with 13 others in a bus accident on 7 February 2014.
Tado’s friends in the arts community, notably members of the artist collective group DAKILA, vowed to support the family if ever they pursue a criminal charge against the bus firm. Among those who have shown support for the family during these trying times are film maker Jun Sabayton, indie actor Ping Medina, comedian Tuesday Vargas, actor-model Ramon Bautista and Parokya ni Edgar bassist Buwi Meneses.
