Lanzones Festival

Location: CamiguinIslands

Celebrating the annual harvest of the famous�lanzones fruit, locals decorate their homes, streets, cars, carriages and even bodies�with lanzones�and�lanzones leaves. Locals parade, dance, sing, share, and of course eat the famous delicacy.

Kawayan Festival

Location: Alegria

Showcasing Alegria’s bountiful bamboo resources and artisans, the festival is held annually during their town Fiesta where various bamboo products are displayed and sold to visitors.

Masskara Festival

Location: Bacolod City, Negros Occidental

The Maskara festival coincides withBacolod�s charter day celebration thus making it the biggest annual event reflecting the Bacole�os festive spirit. La Naval De Manila

Location: Sto. Domingo, Quezon City

Celebrated on the 2ND Sunday of October, La Naval de Manila is a feast dedicated to Our Blessed Lady of the Rosary. �An image of the Blessed Virgin was carved in 1533 and was given as a gift to the Dominican Fathers. Since then she has been revered as the patroness ofQuezon City and thePhilippines. The venerated image of the Lady is passes around the main streets of Sto. Feast of San Clemente/Higantes Festival

Location: Angono, Rizal

Known as the �Art Capital� of thePhilippines, Angono Rizal celebrates the feast of their patron saintSan Clemente (Saint Clemence) in a colorful procession. The veneered image ofSan Clemente is followed by the popular �higantes” (giant paper mache models) and a group of the saint�s renowned devotees or “pahadores� dressed in colorful local costumes, wooden shoes and carrying boat paddles. A parade with more than 60 images of the Blessed Virgin Mary from various parishes and provinces.

Pagdiwata

Location: Puerto Princessa, Palawan

A folk festival by the Tagbanua natives of Palawan, Pagdiwata embodies the tradition of the community. To celebrate their bountiful harvest, to pray for their deities and souls of departed kin, the Tagbanua participate in ritual dances and offerings.

Feast of the Immaculate Concepcion

Location: Intramuros, Manila

A popular Eucharistic celebration of the Feast Day of the La Immaculada, patroness of Intramuros. More than 50 Marian images from provinces and parishes all over the country are paraded in a solemn procession.

Bikol Pastores

Location: Legazpi City, Albay

San Fernando Giant Lantern Festival

Literally one of the biggest ways to celebrate the Christmas season is the Giant Lantern Festival held in San Fernando, Pampanga. As well as a performance of light, color, design and music, the festival also serves as a competition for the participating local barangays (communities or villages) of the district. Each community invests at least 3 to 4 months of time and hard work to produce well-crafted pieces. Binirayan Festival

Location: San Jose, Antique

The Binirayan festival commemorates the history of the Filipino race and the first settlement of the Malays, particularly the 10 Kings fromBorneo, in Antique. Colorful pageants, street dances and float parades run for a week and are held on the beaches of Maybato inSan Jose and Malandog in Hamtik.

Aswang Festival

Pintaflores

Another Mardi Gras style festival in thePhilippinesis the Pintaflores. History tells that the locals welcomed the coming of the Spanish in Visayas through dancing in �pintados� or painted form. METRO MANILA FILM FESTIVAL

Location: Metro Manila

The�Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) is the annual film festival held in Manilastarting on the 25th of December to the first week of January. During this event all foreign film screenings are halted to showcase locally-produced films approved by the festival jurors.� On the opening of the festival, floats representing each movie entry parade down Roxas Boulevard carrying their film�s movie stars. Inasal (Halad)

As a celebration of the city�s patroness, Santa Teresa de Avila, as well as its rich history and culture, the �Inasal� festivities include street dancing, sports fests, parades of the great personages as �higantes� (giant paper mache effigies), and food fairs which offer Talisay�s famous golden brown and crackling roasted pig stuffed with local herbs and spices – the �INASAL� or lechon.

Sinulog Festival

The festival is celebrated every third Sunday of January as a tribute to the Santo Ni�o, the patron saint of Cebu, which� signify the Filipinos� acceptance of the Christian faith. Feast of the Black Nazarene

Location: Quiapo,Manila

One of the most popular events that celebrate Filipino culture and religion, The Black Nazarene is celebrated every 9th of January in Quiapo,,Manila.� A life-sized dark statue of Christ is carried along the streets while a huge crowd of devotees persistently try to touch the statue as a fulfillment of their vow to the Lord. It is believed that all prayers and wishes come true for those who touch the Black Nazarene.
