Upset Man Utd fan dials emergency Hotline
by FFE Sports News Staff
Angry and disappointed over the loss of Manchester United in the Capital One Cup semis on Wednesday night, a drunk fan called emergency hotline 999 to demand a word with former Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Police said the call was placed on 10:30pm after Man Utd lost 2-1 on penalties. The caller said he wanted to report a crime: that Manchester United ‘were absolutely knackered.’ He added he wanted to talk to Sir Alex because ‘the result was all wrong’ and that ‘They had extra time and it was a total and utter load of rubbish.’
David Moyes succeeded Sir Alex as club manager after the latter retired on 2013, leaving a strong legacy of 38 trophies, including the European Cup, 13 Premier Leagues and two Uefa Champions League titles.
Over at Facebook, GMP North Manchester reminded its followers ‘Obviously, it can be a sad and depressing moment when your football team loses a game, however, can we all please remember that 999 is to be used for emergencies only. For any other police-related enquiries that are not an emergency, you can ring 101.’
