For Willie, the best part of a job isn’t the Money
Willie Revillame made his first TV appearance in eight months when he recently visited the set of GMA7 talk show Startalk. Will this mean that he is making a comeback soon? There’s no definite info yet on a show, but the ex-Wowowee host said he is comfortable biding his time right now.
‘Ilang taon akong nagpapakahirap sa trabaho kaya walang masama kung sa ngayon, e, i-enjoy ko naman ang pinagpaguran ko,’ said the host.
Rumours have been circulating alleging that Willie is trying to make ends meet nowadays. This is after his name was recently linked to gambling rumours and real estate losses. But Willie countered by saying ‘kumportable pa rin naman ako.
‘Kahit anong sabihin nilang negative, tinatawanan ko na lang. Hindi [ko] na dapat pinapatulan ‘yon, e, kasi maayos naman ang buhay [ko].’
His statements reveal a general indifference to talk of money, which he further emphasised when he said that money shouldn’t be a motivation behind anything, especially when it came to having a job:
‘Mahirap magtrabaho ng pera lang. Hindi puwedeng pera lang tayo.’
When asked what type of job he would want to have, he said he preferred game shows because ‘May napapasaya kang mga pamilya, may napapasaya kang mga tao.’ For him, this is what really matters in a job.
Helping others seems to be deeply ingrained in Willie’s mind. Not many know, for instance, that he donated Php10m to Yolanda victims last November and that he didn’t channel this donation to any media network. The silent donor rather contributed directly to DSWD: ‘bilang meron naman akong kayang ibigay, hindi ako nagdalawang-isip na mag-donate.
‘Masarap sa pakiramdam na makatulong ka sa iyong kapwa.’
Willie’s attitude towards charity seemed to have peaked during his time away from showbiz. But now that talks of making a comeback is in the air, do you think Filipinos are ready for another round of Willie on TV? Share your thoughts below.
