President Aquino has signed a law that would relocate unspent 2013 PDAF to rehabilitation efforts in areas devastated by typhoon Yolanda. The Congress-approved joint resolution contains Php14.6 billion to be used as supplemental budget for rehabilitation for 2014.
According to Presidential Communications secretary Herminio Coloma Jr the resolution was signed into law on 26 December and is called the Republic Act 10634. He added that this will be added to the already-approved Php40.9 billion rehabilitation plan by the Palace which will be carried out by the government’s ‘rehab czar’ Panfilo Lacson.
Coloma said ‘The rehabilitation efforts will proceed as planned. Since it was taken up and approved by the Cabinet, there has been no let-up in pushing the programme, going through various stages of refinement, concretisation, fleshing out.’
Last month, Lacson announced that he hoped to complete 80% of the job by 2016.
