Vogue reveals 2013’s best-dressed Celebrities
As 2013 draws to a close, lists of this year’s best and worst hit the headlines, and fashion magazine Vogue is one of them, revealing its Best Dressed List Celebrities for 2013.
From Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence to supermodels Kate Moss and Miranda Kerr, Vogue calls the list a “varied bunch”. Check out this year’s most stylish stars and find out if your favourite made it.
Cate Blanchett
“Cate Blanchett is one of those rare breed of actresses who seldom makes a wrong step on the red carpet, yet can never be considered predictable,” Vogue said.
Vogue commends Blanchett for preferring to experiment in her fashion and adding her own individual stamp to designs she wear.
Rooney Mara
The Oscar-nominated actress’ red carpet presence continued to impress in 2013. Mara’s taste for almost gothic designs with her dresses almost exclusively black and white, makes Vogue ask the question, “Who can argue with a formula when it works?”
Marion Cotillard
The French actress is known for wearing big fashion labels such as Dior, McQueen, Erdem, and Zuhair Murad when stepping in the red carpet but still able to seem make them her own.
“Marion Cotillard wears a roll-call of big name labels on the red carpet, and yet always makes them her own,” Vogue said.
Miranda Kerr
Miranda Kerr is always featured in Vogue’s weekly best-dressed edit so it is not a surprise that the Victoria’s Secret supermodel made it to the year-ender’s list.
“Winning plaudits for both her sleek red carpet style and her off-duty wardrobe, she always looks perfectly put together whether dressed up or down,” Vogue said.
Miroslava Duma
She might not be a familiar face but Miroslava Duma is a favourite of street style photographers- fashion’s new taste makers.
“Diminutive Miroslava has garnered the type of social media following that cements one’s place as a true 21st century style maven, with over 500,000 Instagram followers tuning in to follow her latest sartorial move. No wonder she was one of our most popular Today I’m Wearing bloggers in 2013,” Vogue said.
Lea Seydoux
“Léa Seydoux’s red carpet appearances may not be prolific, but when she has stepped out in 2013 she’s consistently impressed,” Vogue said.
Vogue especially liked the French actress’ formula: a touch of statement jewellery, a bold lip colour or a bright pair of heels.
Jourdan Dunn
British model Jourdan Dunn makes it to the list for looking stylish regardless if she’s wearing her downtime style or her perennially-glamorous evening looks.
“By day she relies on model staples – skinny leather trousers, biker boots and classic tees – then ups the ante for evening in micro cocktail dresses or show-stopping gowns,” Vogue said.
Jessica Chastain
With how she handles her fashion style, the Zero Dark Thirty actress perfectly personifies old-school Holywood glamour.
“Never one to take the more casual option, the actress veers between ladylike and screen-siren allure always topped off with glossy waves and classic make-up,” Vogue said.
Diane Kruger
Dubbed as ‘sartorially faultless’ in Vogue’s March 2013 issue and a constant list-maker, it is no surprise Diane Kruger makes it again this year for maintaining young, contemporary, and modern approach when stepping in the red carpet.
“You can always rely on Diane to test out the season’s trickier trends – whether it be crop tops, bold prints or challenging hues – and make them look effortless,” Vogue said.
Jennifer Lawrence
Thanks for tripping on her voluminous Dior gown as she stepped up the stage to receive her Best Actress Award in the Oscars, Jennifer Lawrence made it to the list.
“She scores best-dressed status for the utter grace and wit with which she treated the aforementioned fall, but also for fully embracing her Academy Awards moment and opting for the most dramatic of gowns,” said Vogue.
