VP Binay Meets with French PM Ayrault for Bilateral Discussions in Paris
Vice President Jejomar Binay was welcomed at the French Prime Minister's Palace, Matignon, on April 09, for bilateral talks with Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault. The day before, both officials opened the landmark exhibition, Philippines Archipelago of Exchanges, at the Musée du quai Branly.
At Matignon, Vice President Binay reiterated to Prime Minister Ayrault the Philippines deep appreciation to France for the honor given to the country in showcasing the treasures of its pre-colonial past, gathered together for the first time, at the prestigious Musée du quai Branly.
The Prime Minister said that he himself was very impressed with the richness of the Philippines’ pre-colonial art and culture, as shown in the extensive collection. He added that following his visit to the country last October, he has not stopped talking about the Philippines, lamenting the fact that the French did not know much about a country which shows much potential and dynamism. He expressed optimism, however, that this gap is now being addressed, with the many initiatives taking shape.
